Safeguarding

St. Mary's Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.

We follow the procedures set out by our Child Protection Policy and take account of guidance issued by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (in particular Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education 2007). Any concerns about a child, however small, is reported through our MyConcern recording system to the Safeguarding Team.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads

If you want to know more about our procedures, please speak to one of the following:

DSLs (ID 1266)

If you have any safeguarding concerns please contact office@stmarys.pdet.org.uk or call the school office on 01536 722757.

What to do if you have concerns about a child or family

Speak with one of the safeguarding leads at school.

If you are worried about a child outside of school time, you can call the local Multi Agency Support Hub, MASH, for advice (anonymously if needs be) on 0300 126 7000 (option 1). MASH deals with referrals from professionals and members of the public who may have concerns about a child’s welfare. It makes the process of dealing with referrals quicker and more effective by improving the way county council: Children’s social care, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS), Youth Offending Service (YOS) and education, work alongside other partner agency colleagues including Northamptonshire police, Northamptonshire health partners, National Probation Service, and the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) to share information.

If there is no immediate danger or if you need advice, contact the Northamptonshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub:

If you need to contact MASH urgently during the evening, at night or at the weekend, please phone MASH out of hours team on 01604 626938.

If it is an emergency and you think that a child may be in immediate danger please contact the emergency services directly by calling 999.

Out of hours

If it is an emergency and you think that a child may be in immediate danger please contact the emergency services directly by dialling 999. If you need to contact MASH urgently during the evening, at night or at the weekend, please phone the MASH out-of-hours team on 01604 626 938.

What to do if you have concerns about an adult

If you are concerned about the conduct of a member of staff, you should inform the Headteacher immediately. In their absence, inform the Deputy Safeguarding Lead immediately.

You can also report any concerns you have regarding a member of staff to the Designated Officer for the Local Authority (DOLA — formerly LADO) on: LADOConsultations@nctrust.co.uk or online: North Northamptonshire Designated Officer.

We have a policy on Safeguarding concerns or allegations made against adults which you can find on our Policies page

E-Safety

At St Mary’s Primary School, we take e-safety very seriously.

Using computers and technology is an increasingly important skill and understanding how to do so safely is a vital part of everybody's education: children, parents and staff alike.

We will be teaching a programme of e-safety skills to all children regularly as part of their ICT lessons.

In addition, we thought it would be useful to include links for parents who may be concerned about their child’s online safety at home or who simply wish to find out more about online security in general.

Technology is changing all the time. Whenever new advances occur, information and advice will be offered via these pages to help support your child's education and perhaps provide parents with some useful information and tips. We hope you find this useful.
